  • Jane Goodall, who studied chimpanzees and helped shape care at the Oregon Zoo in the 1970s, died Wednesday at age 91 from natural causes—former keeper Dave Thomas praised her guidance—and her work continues to teach new keepers today.  KPTV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kaiser Permanente nurses and health professionals in Oregon and southwest Washington will begin a strike on Oct 14 if no tentative agreement is reached — the union, which represents nearly 4,000 members, said contract talks have stalled since their contracts expired on Sept 30 and that the strike will last up to five days.  KPTV
