  • A Clackamas County grand jury ruled that the deadly officer-involved shooting in Oregon City on May 16 was justified after 58-year-old Scot Alan Farmer called police about his suicidal plans, fired his gun when officers confronted him, and later fatally shot himself—officer Sydney Oden returned fire when Farmer refused commands.  KATU

  • Oregon lawmakers passed a bill to tax nicotine pouches that is headed to Governor Tina Kotek's desk and will generate up to $30 million over the next two years for wildfire costs — taxing small packs at 0.65 cents and larger packs at 3 cents per pouch — to help fight wildfires.  KATU
  • Oregon lawmakers passed a bill banning bump stocks when the House voted Thursday and the Senate Friday, and the measure now moves to the governor's desk—if approved, it will keep the ban on fully automatic guns in place.  KATU
