  • Former Clackamas County commissioner Melissa Fireside is accused of stealing $30,000 from 83-year-old Arthur Petrone at a Lake Oswego care facility last September+ her next court hearing will be on April 28th at 10 a.m. at the Clackamas County Courthouse.  KPTV
  • Oregon City man Jamon Peter Fritsch was sentenced to life in prison—minimum 25 years before parole—after pleading guilty to murdering and dismembering his partner Kara Rayleen Taylor, who had been reported missing from her Jefferson Street home.  KATU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Tina Kotek declared a state of emergency today for flooding and landslides that caused at least one death — the measure lets officials use all needed resources and directs the transportation department to seek federal help to repair more than $10 million in damage.  KPTV

  • Former Timbers goalkeeper Jake Gleeson testified in court yesterday as he filed a $25 million lawsuit against a physician, saying a 2018 surgery ruined his career—he said poor cleaning of a metal plate led to infections and many follow-up surgeries, and his lawyers will call another witness Friday.  KPTV
