Portland Opera presents "The Crown Maker"

About this event

Discover the extraordinary and magical life of Eva Castellanoz: campesina, wife, mother, cultural guardian, artist, and curandera. After immigrating from Mexico, Eva worked the fields alongside her parents, but that was before she discovered her true calling—she was a crown maker. Through her heritage and artistry, she became a healer, binding the hearts of her community while surviving heartbreak of her own.

Eva’s life was full of everyday magic—from her childhood in Texas to marriage and motherhood in Nyssa, Oregon, Eva created a life that is full of art, community, and healing.

Portland Opera proudly presents this latest installment of the Our Oregon series, a collection of original youth operas that examines Oregon history by highlighting the lives of extraordinary Oregonian women through a variety of lenses.
