About this event

This class can be attended by any member ages 5-8 years old that is L1/white belt. This is also a great beginner class for kids ages 6-8 new to parkour or Skyhook! (All 5 year old's require coach/management approval to take this class. Any 5 year old that wants to move up to this class must have completed at least 8 Little Ninja classes and/or earned their Little Ninja yellow belt.) A parkour class is an exhilarating and dynamic form of movement-based training that emphasizes efficient and fluid movement through obstacles in the environment. Participants learn to navigate through their surroundings using a combination of running, jumping, climbing, balancing, and vaulting techniques, in order to overcome physical challenges and express their creativity in movement. The class typically begins with a warm-up that includes stretches, mobility exercises, and conditioning drills to prepare the body for the demands of parkour. The instructor will then introduce fundamental techniques, such as the precision jump, the roll, and basic vaults, and provide guidance on proper form, technique, and safety. As the class progresses, participants will practice and refine their skills in a variety of environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, and learn how to apply parkour principles to different types of obstacles, such as walls, rails, stairs, and platforms. They will also work on developing spatial awareness, body control, and decision-making skills to overcome challenges and obstacles in creative and efficient ways. In addition to physical training, parkour classes may also incorporate elements of creativity, self-expression, and problem-solving. Participants may be encouraged to develop their own movements, lines, and flow, and explore their own unique style in a supportive and inclusive environment. Parkour classes are suitable for individuals of various fitness levels, as movements can be adapted to different abilities and progressions can be tailored to each participant's skill level. They provide a fun and challenging full-body workout that improves strength, agility, flexibility, and coordination, while also fostering mental resilience, adaptability, and confidence. Safety is a top priority in parkour classes, and participants are typically taught proper technique and spotting techniques to minimize the risk of injuries. The instructor will closely monitor participants' progress and provide guidance, feedback, and corrections as needed. Overall, a parkour class offers a dynamic and creative approach to movement training that encourages participants to overcome physical challenges, express themselves through movement, and develop skills that can be applied in various real-world environments.
