About this event
What Are We Doing?
DvT is extremely fun to do, but very terrible to read about. In essence, it's a practice that started as a therapeutic method (and is still often used as such). The focus is different for everyone, but most people do it because they want to feel things (cue *millenial existential angst*), they want to have fun, be silly, and be in community. If you're interested in those things, you might like DvT.
No but actually what are we doing??
Sorry. That makes sense. Usually we check in, we give you a brief intro to what DvT is as well as to a DvT-ish focus, and then we do a group. It often feels therapeutic, even though it's definitely not therapy.
The Particulars
The Location ( where to go )
TaborSpace once a month from 10:00-11:30a in the bigger PeaPod classroom . Do not be deterred by the sign that says "members only on the door" nor should you be deterred from the people running the building not knowing we're there. (That's normal, because we're renters, not a special event)
While you can find the room from everywhere in the building, it's hard to find. We recommend entering into the door pictured below, which is NOT the front door.
Where is this magic door? It's on the side of the building. If you're facing TaborSpace, on the sidewalk, from out front, turn towards your LEFT and walk towards the end of the street. Turn RIGHT and walk down the sidewalk. You should see a big parking lot on your left side. On your RIGHT side, you will come to this view. Go down this sidewalk and into the building. The PeaPod classroom is the last door at the end of the hallway to the LEFT.
The Cost ( how much )
The sliding scale cost is between $15 and $25 to cover the cost of the space rental.
Please Venmo Steph directly @stephanie-bayne-2 or you can bring cash to cover the cost. Keep in mind, we may or may not be able to provide change.
Parking ( where to leave your vehicle when it's stopped )
There is a parking lot adjacent to TaborSpace, on 54th and Belmont. We highly recommend that you parkt there, as the easiest door to enter the space is directly across the street from that parking lot. There is also residential parking around the neighborhood. It may take you a bit to find a spot and/or to locate the parking lot, so you might want to leave time for that.
Accessibility ( can I come )
TaborSpace seems to be ADA accessible, and there is a flat-ish sidewalk and ramp to get into the building. If you enter in the recommended door, it's a straight shot to the room.
We welcome people of all abilities into our space. All people can play.
**A CAVEAT- we're in a preschool, and so much of the furniture is very short/small. If you need items to support your comfortability, like a bolster, yoga mat, blanket, or pillow, please bring them. We can seek out adult-sized chairs from elsewhere in the building, however we cannot guarantee they are comfortable.
"Dress Code" ( what to wear and not wear )
Come able and prepared to move in all the ways your body might like to (including no movement at all). We (Bex and Steph) like to stay relaxed and able to play!
Masks ( face coverings )
Masks are optional. Feel free to wear a mask if you’d like, and feel free to be unmasked if you’d like as well.
Food and Bevvies ( eating and drinking )
No food or beverages will be provided, although you may bring food and beverages to consume if you’d like.
Please know that there is a coffee shop IN the building, right down the hall, so if you have caffeine needs, you can always head there!
We're very excited to host you and play! See you soon!
